Rockstar has taken to Twitter to address a major leak of Grand Theft Auto 6 assets and code, which hit the internet over the weekend.

After a recent message from Rockstar to the developers of GTA 5 to thank them for their efforts, some believe that there are hints that GTA 6 is coming sooner than expected. 

In 2021 we got a remaster of three classic Grand Theft Auto games -  Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas - but this so-called "Definitive Edition" was an unfortunate mess of bugs and disappointment.

Grand Theft Auto Online got fancy new next-gen versions on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in March 2022, and Rockstar took the opportunity to also launch a new service its named GTA Plus.

The next-gen version of Grand Theft Auto 5 is just days away, with a launch date of 15 March 2022, but it looks like there will be a pretty sweet deal to incentivise a purchase as soon as it comes out.

The disastrous launch of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition (still quite a mouthful months later) from a performance standpoint is slowly being fixed by updates and patches, and the latest brings a huge list of tweaks and changes.

Rockstar has issued a welcome update on its plans across a few games, but the biggest headline from its community update is clear - it's working on GTA 6 right now.

Just after releasing a first major update for the digital version of its package, Rockstar has delayed the release of the physical versions of Grand Theft Auto The Trilogy Definitive Edition.

French media outlet Rockstar Magazine claims Red Dead Redemption Remastered is in the early stages of development. A translation by Dark Side of Gaming states that the remaster would be in the same vein as the upcoming Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is being tidied and remastered for modern consoles as part of the Definitive Edition collection coming on 7 December. But that's not all, it has emerged that it is also being converted to run in virtual reality.

We've had the 10th anniversary of Grand Theft Auto III already and that resulted in the release of a version for iOS and Android, and now Rockstar is about to celebrate the release of its sequel, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and we could not be more excited.

There were hints earlier in the year that we might see the latest instalment in the Grand Theft Auto franchise released this October,  but that turned out to be hooey. Yes, GTA III was released in October all those many years ago, but GTA IV was released in April 2008 so there's no discernible pattern.

We can't believe it has been 10 years since the joys of Grand Theft Auto 3 graced our PlayStation 2. The ground breaking title brought the idea of open world gaming to consoles and its quality voice acting and edgy story showed us how cinematic a game could be. Since then the GTA series has come on leaps and bounds, culminating in the technical tour de force that was GTA 4. 

For once, you can believe the hype. L.A. Noire is a revolution in interactive entertainment (or video games, as us less high-falutin’ types like to call it) and a major step forwards for games as a narrative artform. Both aesthetically and technically, it is an impressive achievement and one of the most ambitious and forward-thinking games you’ll play this year. It’s also a real departure for Rockstar: a game which throws away many of the trappings we associate with GTA or Red Dead Redemption and embraces, without irony or reservation, a serious tone and serious themes. In a few years time we’ll be looking back at it, like Heavy Rain or Mass Effect, as a pioneer.

There has been a lot of talk over the last few years about games as the interactive equivalent of movies or TV, and there's no question that we're getting closer to a stage where there's some substance to the claim.

With MadWorld, House of the Dead: Overkill, and now Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, Nintendo seem intent on shaking off that "kids and families" image that the Wii/DS console generation has initiated.

If the likes of Burnout Paradise, and now Midnight Club: Los Angeles are to be the future, it seems traditional racing titles are out. And in their place are the kind of freeform titles that once upon a time were almost the sole home of the action/adventure genre.

At time of writing, of course, GTA: Vice City has been out for over a year, and GTA3 for two years. However, as its street price on the PC has been £10 for a year it deserves a second look.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City won five prestigious BAFTAs at this year's inaugural BAFTA Games Awards, winning in the categories PS2 , Design , Action, Sound and PC. It also won the Sunday Times Readers Award - the only Award presented at the ceremony that is voted for by members of the public. The ceremony hosted by Bill Bailey was held at the Radisson Portman Hotel and attended by 350 guests from the Games industry.

We all knew that GTA was a good game. Back in the day with the top down view, stealing stupidly fast cars to run over people on the pavement, whilst making a few bucks and failing the missions. After various sequels, which added a little, but not a lot, Vice City really takes the torch and runs a long way with it. GTA deserves its cult crown: Vice City is simply superb.
